RLW #1 Briana Palencia WRTG 3020-066 Thinking about Context: The author is a Belgian comics historian. He has done a lot of graphic narratives and studies on comics. This information affected my experience of the text because he often compared “The Assassin Road” to European graphic novels. This demonstrates to the audience that the author’s background knowledge is mostly European graphic novels. Thinking about Purpose: Pascal Lefèvre wrote this formal analysis to analyze elements from a fighting scene. The author points out how certain choices the artist made in the graphic novel impacts the way the audience reads and interprets the scene. On page 79, the author points out how a “film-like technique of shot/reverse-shot” is used to differentiate the protagonist from the enemy.
