SELF-CARE PLAN REFLECTION 2 Self-Care Plan Reflection During this block of school I learned ways to properly care for myself. I have always known that there is a need for it, but this class opened my eyes to different ways to achieve it. It should be tailored to each individual and written down in the SMART goals form so that the goal is clear, concise, specific, measurable, realistic, and has a time frame on it. Of course writing it down does not guarantee success. There will still be barriers, unexpected complications that arise. The hope is that you will come out a little better than before and learn something about yourself and can keep experiencing personal growth until you get to where you need to be. SMART Goals During this class I had the opportunity to create goals to be care for myself. Using the SMART goal format I wrote two goals: lose five pounds and to decrease the stress in my life. My plan for losing five pounds included weighing in weekly and by adhering to a proper diet and exercise program. In order to measure my stress I completed the Perceived Stress Scale worksheet at the beginning and end of class (Cohen, 1994). My goal was to use journaling as a way of coping to let out my stresses, however, when under stress, some stressors cannot be controlled. One of my stresses was knowing my father was about to pass away. He did end up passing and it was horribly sad, however, I was able to find peace in this situation by visiting family and friends, seeing him one last time and helping him to see friends and helping my mother plan funeral arrangements. What should have been even more difficult, ended up relieving some of that stress. It is important to note that while goals can and should be set to help one properly care for themselves and get things done, there will always be things that arise here and there that are not part of the plan.

As a current student on this bumpy collegiate pathway, I stumbled upon Course Hero, where I can find study resources for nearly all my courses, get online help from tutors 24/7, and even share my old projects, papers, and lecture notes with other students.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
