Rose Rauch Econ 2200 Professor Milton August 10, 2018 My Changes to Achieve a Responsible Federal Budget I was not successful in reducing the U.S. debt and GDP with the changes I selected. The changes I implemented, did move the U.S. debt from 97% to 74% for 2028. Unfortunately, I was not as successful in reducing the GDP by 2050. With the changes I implemented, I was only able to reduce the GDP to 59% from 160% GDP. First, I made only a few changes to the Defense category. I understand the need to assist other countries, but I do not see the need to be always in the middle of everyone else’s chaos. I am sure that my choices made in this category will make a lot of individuals upset or even angry. This category was difficult as it concentrated on lowering benefits overall for our Veteran’s. My changes for defense are listed below. End the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, which could save the budget $440 billion by 2028 and the GDP could be lowered by 8%. Reduce the number of military personnel to save $50 billion and decrease the GDP by 1%. Allow Veterans to see any doctor outside the VA which resulted in an increase in the budget of $560 billion and an increase in the GDP of 7%. Second, I do feel that there really needs to be a total rehaul for our current education system. However, this would be something that would take more than the information provided. Most individuals would appreciate the educational changes as the youth need to be provided
