Surname 1 Students’ name Tutor date Date Power imbalance and gender inequality Gender imbalance has been in the world for a very long period, and the ills that were there are still evident until today. The social ills that women faced and the only thing they could do was to bear with the situations. Women were considered to be minority groups or even perceived to be the ‘weaker’ gender. The texts which I will expound on in the next two chapters illustrate keenly of the social injustices that women experienced and which were caused by men. In my case, I will describe on Othello (The Tragedy of Othello, the Moor of Venice) and Chronicle of a Death Foretold. Othello is a tragic story written by William Shakespeare of a young man in the Venetian army. He happened to be a Moorish general. By Othello being a general we can see that he had power which not many people would much except for the nobles. The nobles were made up of the political class and the high and the great in the military ranks. Their women were not regarded whatsoever like they were equal to the elite level and seen as some kind, of goods to them. In our case, we see Othello after his wife being accused of having an affair with Cassanio. He does not take lots of due diligence to see whether the allegations were true or not. Men possess different powers, while Othello and Cassanio had skills in the military, Lago had the ability to sweet talk and feed people with ideas which were clever ways to manipulate a situation for his advantage. They all took advantage of women at the equal measure, and the sarcastic nature of relationships and marriages is just laughable the people.
