QUIZZ No.1 Communication: transmission of information and meaning from a sender to a receiver Communication Process: 1. Sender has an Idea 2. Sender encodes message 3. Sender selects channel, transmits message 4. Receiver decoded message 5. Feedback returns to sender NOISE: Anything that interrupts the transmission of a message in communication process. Decoding: interpreting Feedback: Information about reactions to a product, a person’s performance or a task. Best feedback tends to be descriptive rather than evaluative (judgmental). Paraphrase the sender message with comments: one of the best ways to advance understanding Bypassing: A barrier created by the different meaning people give messages or words. For communication to be successful, the receiver and sender must attach the same symbolic meanings to their words. Happens when people miss each other with their meanings. Frame of References: This barrier is created by one's personal biases (prejudges). Being aware of multiple frame of references, will eliminate narrowmindedness. Everything you see and feel in the world is translated through your individual frame of reference. Your frame of reference is different from everyone else’s. Lock of Language skills: Not to have good language skills. Distractions: Emotional interference. Physical (formatting of a paper, printing), and Digital Distractions To reduce the influence of emotions on communication, both senders and receivers should focus on the content of the message and try to remain objective.
