Film 101 Film Journal: Crash Taking place in one of the biggest societal melting pots in the United States, Crash takes place in Los Angeles and shows the stories of a dozen or so characters. The story shows how the lives of many different people in LA can intertwine, whether it is pure coincidence or not. The one item I focused on in the movie was the typecasting which turned into stereotyping for some of the characters. First, you take Matt Dillon’s character Officer Ryan. He is a white, seasoned veteran of the Los Angeles Police Department who has resentment towards minorities. Could it be because the majority of the people he comes in contact with, whether white, black or Hispanic, are criminals? He only gets a bad taste daily of society, not really any good. But when we peel the onion back a little, we find out that he holds that resentment because his father’s business went down the drain due to affirmative action. In the end, does that justify his behavior against Shaniqua or Cameron and his wife Christine?

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
