Aldiana Kamencic Current Events 3 1. I have neutral feelings on the vending machine that sells soft serve ice cream but overall, I don’t care about it. I believe it is an interesting invention but there is absolutely no need for it at the same time. When I think of soft serve ice cream I think about buffets and the machines where you simply just pull the lever down and the ice cream come out not too frozen and not too mettled, the perfect in between. I don’t fully trust a vending machine to create my soft serve, especially since they have created their own recipe and we don’t really know what this entails, I’d rather just use the normal machine or have it served by an actual person. I don’t think this mending machine is super efficient either, it takes just about the same time to get it served by yourself or from an employee, there is no difference. The risk though is that not many people actually know about these machines and they are very pricey, one machine costs $68,000 and in order to cover these costs, they must sell a few hundred servings each month. 2. Creating a buzz is simply just a technique that marketers use in order to get the word around about a new product on the scene. To get more customers, businesses have to campaign to the public by doing things such as handing out flyers or posting it on social media to attract more talk and money. Since this vending machine is completely new technology, they have to send out the message to people in hopes that this will create a word-of-mouth phenomenon and more and more people will find out.
