What is a “Biodiversity Corridor”?

Definition Like a corridor, it serves to connect 2 area of habitation. The gaps between these areas are usually made by us, humans. This is a project that aims to increase biodiversity and possibly prevent extinction.

Definition of Terms A) "Protected area " refers to identified portions of land and water set aside by reason of their unique physical and biological significance, managed to enhance biological diversity and protected against destructive human exploitation; B) " Buffer zones” is generally a zonal area that lies between two or more other areas but depending on the type of buffer zone, the reason for it may be to segregate regions or to conjoin them. C) "Wildlife sanctuary" comprises an area which assures the natural conditions necessary to protect nationally significant species, groups of species, biotic communities or physical features of the environment where these may require specific human manipulation for the perpetuation For the purpose of this Act, the following terms shall be defined as follows:

Purpose of Corridors Corridors provide the needs of species especially the endangered ones. Biodiversity Corridors can also benefit people, with underpasses or overpasses for wildlife helping to reduce vehicle collisions with large animals. It also minimizes interaction between humans and wildlife by allowing predators to hunt food at other location, minimizing its threat to people.

3 Factors of Corridors Colonization A chance to exploit new resources. Or replenish exhausted ones. Animals occupy the areas in which food sources or other natural resources are lacking in their real habitat. Migration Safer passage for migrating species allow for higher survival rate.
