CCTV AND CRIME 1 Model Answer: Assessment 3 Data During the evaluation period, data were collected from 150 different locations within the local community. Half the locations ( n = 75) were associated with places where CCTVs were installed and the other half were places where CCTVs did not exist ( n = 75). The number of crimes in both of these areas was obtained from QPS ( M = 2.83, SD = 1.54). Boxplots showed no outliers for number of crimes. In addition, the number of crimes was visually inspected and the data was approximately normally distributed. Further, the number of crimes variable had a minimum of zero and a maximum of six. There were no missing data. Methods For both groups of locations, the number of crimes was calculated and group means were compared. Observations for both groups were independent; therefore, the research question was answered by conducting an independent samples t-test.
