What is this class all about? In this course, you will learn about effective business communications, which is quite different from academic written material. This is a required transfer class for Business majors wishing to transfer to CSUN. To transfer this class, you must earn a grade of “B” or better; make sure to check with your transfer institution for any updates on transfer requirements.COURSE OBJECTIVES This is a communication course designed to help you develop the ability to write effective business memorandums, letters, e-mail messages, employment documents, and written and oral reports for a variety of business situations. Emphasis is on planning, organizing, composing, and revising business documents that inform, persuade, and convey negative news. Use of presentation-graphics software to create and deliver professional-level oral reports is also highlighted. This course stresses the concepts of effective writing style such as organization, coherence, and unity, as well as principles of grammar and punctuation. It is designed for students with college-level writing skills; ability to type is recommended. PREREQUISITES To help ensure your success in this class, the college will require that you produce evidence of completion of English 101 with a grade of “C” or better.
