2GRAND THEORY WRITTEN ASSIGNMENT This paper is intended to compare, and contrast four grand nursing theorists as identified by Meleis in the book Theoretical Nursing Development and Progress. Chapter 9 in this text discusses grand theory categories: Needs, Interaction, Outcomes, and Caring/Becoming. I have chosen one grand theorist from each category identified; Jean Watson, Myra Levine, Ernestine Weidenbach, and Faye Abdellah. These four theorists will be reviewed for similarities and differences between their educational backgrounds, philosophy of nursing, definition of nursing and the goal/purpose of nursing. The information reviewed will be displayed in a tubular format below.
