Lab 6: Conservation of Linear Momentum Due: February 21, 2018
Purpose: The purpose of this experiment is to reproduce a simple experiment demonstrating the Conservation of Linear Momentum.Procedure:1.Balance the air track by adjusting the height of the feet, such that a glider placed in the middle of the track will not drift towards either end of the track. 2.Use the balance to determine the masses of the two gliders. 3.Place the gliders on the air track with the blower turned on. Balance the air track by adjusting the height of the feet, such that a glider placed in the middle of the track will not drift towards either end of the track. 4.Gently push the gliders towards each other at the same time. Try not to make the speeds of the two gliders equal. Record the time for each glider (motion toward each other before collision and in the opposite direction after collision). 5.Collect data for 3 runs. In the second run, let the initial state of one of the gliders
