Thresher, Brian8/29/19English 101The Change We DeserveComing into his first year of high school, the boy dreamed of playing basketball and perhaps getting a scholarship to pursue a college career. In the long run he never played in one official game in organized high school sports. A few reasons may come to mind when you hear this scenario, but one of the main sources of the problem was the young man had no mentor or adult figure to push up him. Nor steer him in the direction he needed to achieve his dreams. Of course, there is blame on the side of the student as well, but not all of the responsibility alone canbe thrust onto his shoulders. In today’s world, it can be so difficult to find self-motivation or a purpose that some students just give up, quit, or don’t even try. With no guidance a lot of kids getleft feeling like they are forever trapped in a helpless situation.Over the course of our nation’s educational history, we have taught in the same matter. For the most part, the world around us has evolved so much that it seems bizarre to still use the same methods today that we used back then. Although it may seem a bit tedious to implement new ways of teaching when we’ve been used to the same old thing for so long, but it may actually help the kids who are suffering and need that extra consideration. Something we can actually use less of is classes that students don’t need. If a student does not have any interest in a subject or area of expertise why should they be forced to waste their time learning about tools that they may never use in their entire lives.
