PHARMACY REVIEW2Pharmacy Interview IntroductionThe Interview ResultsWe use Cerner software for the majority of pharmacy processes. We also use software called OnBase for digital faxing of paper orders, mostly used for the outpatient infusion center. We use TheraDoc to track interventions and also keep a running commentary on the consults we are following and what has been done each day (ie—vancomycin, warfarin, aminoglycosides). We also just recently obtained a TPN compounder to automate some of the TPN compounding process.Within Cerner, we can send communications to pharmacy or nursing to pass along information. There is the ability to send messages to physicians, but we typically page or text them. We communicate consults amongst pharmacists through Cerner (TheraDoc). For an order received in Cerner via CPOE, after the order (or set of orders) appears in thequeue, a pharmacist will open the order and reviews the drug, dose, route, and frequency. The pharmacist will also assess if the drug is on formulary, and if we have a substitution available, will make the change. Drug interactions are assessed, as well as allergies. If everything is good, the order is approved and a label prints, which is filled by a tech and checked by a pharmacist.
