Eduardo Perez Mr.Rosen and Mr.Klein English Introduction: A. One of the best american writers is considered Scott Fitzgerald. He made the Great Gatsby story in the timeline of 1920 in the time of the roaring 20’s . B. The book “The Great Gatsby” is the timeline of the roaring twenties in the 1920’s where wealth and the young voices and personalities of careless and carefree was developed in people's lives from generations. C. Around the 1800’s was when the american dream started to take its place since those people were living happy wealthy lives with nothing to worry about. Those people succeed in hardwork and they lived their lives to the fullest as a reward. Those people felt that drinking and partying was the way to live. They bought all their desires of a home, clothing, jewelry and other things that they may have wanted during that time. D. The American dream is still desired to this day, the only way to achieve the goal is to work for it. You have to be determined to put time and effort in order to succeed the dream. Chapter 1 In chapter 1, Nick is what you consider the protagonist and narrator. Things are told in his perspective. Nick is someone who very judgemental towards other people. He had served in WWI, and had moved to New York as time passed on. He gets in contact with an old cousin which once he is then introduced to Daisy and Tom. As he meets them he realizes how wealthy they really live. We learn how Tom is disrespectful self centered cheater while his wife is somewhat more of a calm and relaxed loyal kind of women. As Nick is learning more about these people he is also introduced to Ms. Baker that has a crush on him. I believe that Nick’s perspective on the people he meets really describe what kind of character he is. The most important quote by nick would be “Just remember that all the people in this world haven’t had the advantages that you’ve had.” I say this quote because he lives and breathes by this. His judgements in the story later on shows the way he feels about certain characters and certain situations as well. Chapter 2 In chapter 2 we get find out that Tom and Nick go to a garage in which we meet the new character George Wilson and his wife Myrtle Wilson. Which later on Nick Myrtle and Tom go to get drunk. We see that they are having a great time partying. Myrtle being Tom’s mistress, she starts to mess with him by repeating “Daisy” over and over. Which then made Tom strike at her and break her nose. Nick is not used to drink because he doesn’t drink. He ends up getting wasted and leaves and ends up at a station.
