HBS Period 6/7Career JournalDNA AnalystInterviewer:What is the typical day in the life of a DNA analyst like?Interviewee: A typical day for me, as a DNA analyst, involves working in the forensic crime lab,where I spend almost all of my time either cataloging or analyzing DNA samples; I also perform routine maintenance and quality control checks to make sure equipment is in appropriate condition for use. Additionally, while running tests, I must follow strict protocol and report all my findings. Sometimes I’m even called to appear in court to act as an expert witness and to present and verify findings from a certain DNA analysis.Interviewer: What education or training is necessary in order to be qualified for the job?Interviewee: Employers often tend to look for DNA analysts who have had a formal education through a four-year degree in courses such as biology, chemistry, genetics, molecular genetics or
