Benedict Arnold, America's most known traitor. Arnold was considered at obe time to be somewhat of a hero but felt the need to turn his back on America. The reason boils down to greed. Benedict Arnold had a love for money and fame. He got into a financial situation and had to use his powers to get out of debt quick. His partner in crime was captured and hanged. When Arnold heard his partner was captured and had all the information about the surrender at West Point, he quickly fled to the British. What happened to him after this did he (a) get out of debt, (b) get the recognition he so longed for, or (c)remain in Britain until death.Introduction2
After reading and researching as much as I could on Benedict Arnold, I can understand why he is considered a traitor in America. Benedict Arnold had a quick temper. He was ready toexplode at any time when he did not get his way. Although he was in the militia and conquered some famous battles, he was still wanting more fame or recognition. Benedict Arnold married his second wife who became the message delivery person between Arnold and Andre. In this research, you will learn who Benedict Arnold was, how he used his powers to smuggle goods, and why he turned his back on his country. The Revolutionary War began in 1775 and lasted until 1783. This war eventually becameknown as the American Revolutionary War. During this time Great Britain had a total of thirteen3
colonies in America. Some conflicts occurred between the British troops and the colonial militiamen, which lead to the war. There was a variety of individuals that joined this war. For example, slaves joined due to the promises of freedom, women followed their husbands and helped with the troops, and a variety of leaders from America. The individual I chose to write about is General Benedict Arnold. Benedict Arnold was born on January 14, 1741, in Norwich, Connecticut. Arnold’s father was a businessman that became successful. But after losing three of his children to yellow fever,he got into a financial bind, due to the heaviness of drinking. As a young child, Arnold was enrolled in private school. Arnold left school and apprenticed at an apothecary. At the age of sixteen, he joined the militia and went to New York to fight with the French.
