How does a local school develop a community of scholars? To what extent can technology including social media, virtual resources, and other applications reasonably assist with this development? Explain. To develop a community of scholars, educational leaders must first understand and respect the culture of the local community (Vukotich, Jr., Cousins, & Stebbins, 2014). This is accomplished through the development of meaningful communication and relationships. From these relationships and lines of communication, the school leaders can encourage community involvement by making use of community members with knowledge of education in key subject areas. The educational leader can create a profession learning community (PLC) that includes faculty and local community members to share content-based information as well as how to best utilize their collective knowledge to help students (Lomos, Hofman, & Bosker, 2011).
