Lindsey Weygandt 08439060 Part One Summaries October 16, 2007 Marty Steffens was the guest speaker today, and she encouraged us to double major because it greatly increases job opportunities after graduation. Mrs. Steffens emphasized that to graduate with a major in journalism and a minor in journalism is very beneficial because it can open your eyes to a variety of career choices. Also, Brian Brooks spoke briefly about the purpose of J1010. I think this course will be helpful because it will be able to give me a summary of the many types of journalism the University of Missouri has to offer. The class will also give me the advantage of putting key names to important professors in the journalism school, and this is important because many of them will be my instructors in the future. October 18, 2007 Dr. Fritz Cropp came into speak today about the international programs that the University of Missouri has to offer. The study abroad program can be very helpful because it can better ones understanding of the countless different cultures worldwide. The international programs are affordable, and there are many scholarships available. It also helps develop leadership skills, and extensive orientation is given so that every student is fully prepared for life overseas. One myth about the studying abroad is that you will not graduate on time; however, this is not true because you work with your advisor, and they make sure you have all the necessary requirements to graduate. The study abroad is very popular, one fourth of all journalism students plan on studying abroad.

As a current student on this bumpy collegiate pathway, I stumbled upon Course Hero, where I can find study resources for nearly all my courses, get online help from tutors 24/7, and even share my old projects, papers, and lecture notes with other students.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
