In the Dalton Trumbo’s novel Johnny Got His Gun (1939), Trumbo uses imagery and point of view to characterize the respectful and loving relationship between the young man and his father. Trumbo, on the second paragraph, shifts the novel to a different point of view, to the young man’s point of view, for example, “Yet he knew that it was the end of something… and he wondered just how he should tell his father about it”, the author allows the readers to know the young man’s thoughts towards his father and to this situation, and the author also showed how the boy really cared and how he was aware to his dad’s feelings because the boy knew how the
