Chapter 5 Study Guide Name: ______TOM PARROTT____ Chapter 5 Study Guide Key Terms: Motivation & hierarchy of needs (how are they related?) – Motivation is an interpersonal experience that influences behavior. The hierarchy of needs explains human behavior based upon the following order: Physiological, safety and security, love and social belonging, esteem and prestige, and self- actualization needs. Motivation ties into the hierarchy in that one must understand where an individual is at on the hierarchy in order to know how to properly motivate that person. Motivation & Social Information Processing Theory (how are they related?) – The social information processing theory says that a person’s needs and attitudes are determined by the information available at any given time. This is related to motivation because one must understand exactly what message to convey when motivating and individual. Harsh motivation may work for someone and may fire them up to do well, but others may crumble under harsh motivation.

As a current student on this bumpy collegiate pathway, I stumbled upon Course Hero, where I can find study resources for nearly all my courses, get online help from tutors 24/7, and even share my old projects, papers, and lecture notes with other students.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
