Consider for a moment the sports event you have attended or consumed through some
form of media. Next consider recent purchases you have made. Did sponsors of the sports
you consumed influence these purchases? If so, why?

Last month for my birthday I flew to Boston with my dad so that I could finally see
my favorite team the Boston Celtics play in person. The first question we had to
answer in this class was asking about core and product consumers. I said that I was a
core consumer but that wasn’t quite the case in Boston. The Boston Celtics are
sponsored by Nike so everything in the Celtics store was Nike brand. In my opinion
Nike makes the best sports gear. I went into this store with $120 and left with enough
to buy a water or 2. The fact that Nike was the sponsor made me even more eager to
spend my money. I purchased a Green Nike Celtics hoodie and a grey Nike Celtics T-
shirt. Being completely honest if it wasn’t Nike I may have bought 1 item maybe less.
