I. It is highly unlikely that computers will ever think like people because a. After much funding and many years there has not been any breakthroughs b. People who could create this “logic” may refrain from doing so because they see the danger in it. c. Also, if robots could think like humans it would/could be very dangerous. i. Will Smith’s “I, Robot” II. Acquiring Human Know-How a. Humans acquire know-how through experiences i. Five Levels of Skill 1. Novice (Learn facts relevant to basic skill) 2. Advanced Beginner (Pay attention to situational elements) 3. Competent (Don’t just follow rules, proceed with goals, Levels of Involvement) 4. Proficient 5. Expert III. The Intuition Of Experts a. Proficient (Memories of similar experiences in the past seem to trigger plans like those that worked before) b. Expert ( So much of a part of them that they don’t realize they are using their skills) i. When they consciously reason things out they tend to regress to the level of a novice or competent performer. IV. Is Intelligence Based on Facts a. You could program a computer to be human-like in 1 specific situation. b. It is restricted to solving only one problem. c.
