Name Jolene Tyree Course CWV-101 Date December 23, 2018, Instructor Mr. Jeff Jibben Benchmark - Gospel Essentials In the beginning, nothing existed. Then, God spoke into existence heaven and earth. In His likeness, God created Adam and Eve to live on the land to be fruitful. This land was called the Garden of Eden and all was good. There was one, specific instruction on what Adam and Eve were not allowed to do concerning a tree, the tree of knowledge of good and evil, to not eat the fruits of it or they would die. They ate of the tree and sin entered into the world. Humanity needed redemption for the sin of Adam and Eve, and God sent His only son to die and sacrifice his blood for our lives. Jesus walked the earth teaching the word of God and performing miracles among those who sought him. Many sought proofs that Jesus was who he said he was. Jesus said in John 14:6, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me (NIV).” For those who did not believe, Jesus was prosecuted and for those who did believe received redemption and salvation. God is the Father, the creator and ruler. God has the power to speak things into existence and commands all. God is the son, as it states in John 1:1. “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God 1

(NIV).” Then, in verse 14, it says, “The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth (NIV).” This eludes to Jesus being one with God. God is the Holy Spirit, which is referenced in Chapter 3 of our textbook. The first account of our existence, from darkness to light, is God spoke creating heaven and the earth. God created all things, and all things we good. Per chapter 3 in the Attributes of God section, it states: The Spirit was active in creating the natural world (Diffey, 2016, para. 13), and God is the creator. Humanity God created man in His image. We were to work, sustain the Garden of Eden, and to love one another as God loves us. In Genesis 2:16-17, God gave Adam one command to follow after being given the Garden of Eden, and it was: 16 And the Lord God commanded the man,
