Group typology is a special area of interest that should excite any social worker. This is
because most clients require group treatment in order to recover fully. Therefore, it is important
for a social worker to understand group typology so as to choose individuals who may benefit
from it. From the case study, Paula Cortez is suffering from hepatitis C and HIV; it is evident that
Paula needs to be placed under the treatment group to overcome her predicaments (Plummer &
Makris & Brocksen, 2014). Paula Cortez has restrained from taking medication which has
drastically affected her health. Notably, Paula Cortez is not in a stable relationship with the father
of her child; she cites harassment and physical abuse as detrimental to her life progress.
