1 OL 325: 8-1 Case Study: Acquiring a Company in South Korea Chapman Auto Parts is wanting to extend their market into South Korea though a small manufacturing company that produces the same parts as them. But they have absolutely no idea how to get to the logistics of making this happen. It’s now up to Janie Lang, Director of Human Resources, to prepare a report for Chapman’s Executive Team. Janie will have to do research into the South Korean labor market and provide her recommendations including any legal issues or extreme labor costs. The United States and South Korea have always had an interesting relationship that dates back to 1882 when the Treaty of Peace, Amity, Commerce and Navigation was first signed. Ove the century, the two countries have worked together to strengthen their economic and combat regional and global threats. Over the past few decades, the Republic of Korea has been the 6 th largest good trading partner with the US of manufactured goods, agricultural products, service and technologies. (State.gov., 2018).
