Rebecca Jordan4-23-19Mrs. Sansom6th period AP English 9Summary of Critique 1The Poem “I Will KeepBroken Things” is just insanely beautiful. Alice shares a similar writingstyle with Phyllis Wheatley. Although their lives were filled with aggression, segregation, andlots of hatred, they never focused on those aspects of their lives and always sought out thepositive aspects of life. Alice always brought out the love in her heart. I agree with the critic onthe fact that Alice has a very beautiful, and unique form of writing. I also agree that Alice alwaysfocused on the things that were dear to her. I did not think about how her writing style carries oninto other poems. Her form and beauty in her writing was never severed in a single piece ofpoetry. Alice Walker begins the poem with some things that really matter to her. The critique didnot really mentionanything about symbolism or the repetition that is constantly being used
