SWEDISH MASSAGE Class 2—effleurage Greetings/questions Attendance/Table set up Reminder about bins Oil, cream, lotion questions and review Effleurage—what is it? EFFLEURAGE French for "to skim over" or "touch lightly" What is effleurage? gliding strokes—can be fast, slow, long, short, soothing or stimulating first stroke in massage spreads oil/cream Gives the practitioner the chance to sense/explore/palpate musculature warms the body-- increases circulation moves out cellular waste transitional stroke—moving from one part of body to another smoothes out work you have done.
