EFFLEURAGE French for "to skim over" or "touch lightly" What is effleurage? gliding strokes—can be fast, slow, long, short, soothing or stimulating first stroke in massage spreads oil/cream Gives the practitioner the chance to sense/explore/palpate musculature warms the body-- increases circulation moves out cellular waste transitional stroke—moving from one part of body to another smoothes out work you have done.
