Lab#2 Uniform Motion Physics 114 Sec(23308) Professor Karl Francis Lab Objectives: To prove that the speed is uniform at different distances. Used: - Air track, air supply and hose
- Master and accessory photogate timers - Glider with flag - Rubber bumper Physical Principles: Average velocity: V avg = Displacement/Average Time Average time: t avg = ( t 1+ t 2+ t 3)/3 Procedure: Turn on the air gates. Position the start and stop photogates so that the distance between them is 20cm,40cm,60cm.80cm,100cm (repeat the procedure 3 times for each distance). Set the timer to the “PULSE” mode. Using the rubber band (placed at the beginning of the air glider) launch the glider and record the time. Reset the timer each time before releasing the glider. Record the times onto the Data Set and make a graph. Summary: Right after experiment I was a bit dissapointed by the results because in our culculations we got 35.76 for out mean at the same time computer gave us 68.32 which is not even close to the
