1 Abdulla Abdalla Abdulla Ms. Hebert ENG4U 28 March 2019 Short Stories Essay 2 In the story of the “Loin and the Jackal” from the “Panchatantra”, the lion is very foolish for being too prideful of his strength. The jackal uses this to his advantage which allows him to survive, leaving the lion to die. In society today, pride is always a bad trait to have, we as human beings thrived as a species because we were able to work together. Pride gets in the way of communication and cooperation, which really isolates an individual from society. The lion’s pride is so great that it never crossed his mind the he would be tricked. He felt as though he was invincible, and the idea of being deceived had never crossed his mind. When the lion corners the jackal, he is certain that he has finally caught the mischievous pest, so he lowers his guard mentally, completely sure of his victory. “Oh, thank you, great King!” yelped Jackal. “I will quickly fetch that log over there to hold the rock, and we will both be saved!”

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
