2 The Michiana Regional Transportation Center provides from one location services for travel by air, train, bus, and rental car, including the South Shore Railroad, an electric commuter train to Chicago. South Bend is also served by Amtrak. The city lies about 90 miles east of Chicago, Illinois, 140 miles north of Indianapolis, Indiana, and 200 miles west of Detroit, Michigan.
