Resisters and Dissenters; Alice Paul Alice Paul lived from 1885-1977 and lived in England from 1907-1910. Alice Paul brought radical tactics back to the US and she was involved in NAWSA. She was a full time suffrage career beginning in 1912. Alice Paul was also involved in the Women’s Suffrage Parade and the National Women’s Party. The Women’s Suffrage Parade took place on March 3, 1913. 8,000 women marched and joined in the parade, 500,000 spectators watched. The women had signs that said, “We demand an Amendment to the United States Constitution enfranchising the women of the country.”. The National Women’s Party was a party that wanted a Constitutional Amendment that had militant tactics. The NWP picketed the White House on January 1917 (pre-US entry). They continued until 1919 and were named the Silent Sentinels. One of the signs the NWP had while picketing the White House said, “President Wilson is deceiving the world when he appears as the prophet for democracy. President Wilson has opposed those who demand democracy for this country. He
