MEDIA ANALYSIS OF DEVELOPMENT AND DISABILITY: MY LEFT FOOT 2 Brown was born into a fairly poor family of 15 in Dublin, Ireland. He soon learns that although he cannot walk, talk or control most of his body, the one thing he can control is his left foot. With this newfound discovery, he seeks a hobby in painting, and soon after, begins to enjoy writing. Throughout the movie it was evident that family members and even friends believed that Christy would amount to nothing due to his disability. His mother, however, never had never lost hope and believed that Christy would be extraordinary, and extraordinary he was. After years of adversity and support, Christy Brown became an exceptional artist and writer! In this case of Christy Brown, he endured both positive and negative experiences but it seemed the supportive aspects had more of an effect and aided in his success as both an artist and writer. Thus, despite his struggles with cerebral palsy, he believed it to be a blessing. In addition, his environment and support with his disability had an immense impact on his personal development.
