Background: The amount of energy in an isolated system remains constant over time due to the law of conservation of energy. Energy cannot be created or destroyed only transformed from one form to another. In this case a calorimeter is used in which it is heated by submerging a heating coil into the water along with an electric current. This causes an electric potential difference across the coil and the electric current running through it. Procedure Measure the mass of the empty inner cup of the calorimeter.
