The Marijuana Policy Project also known as MPP’s purpose is to pass federal medical marijuana legislation. The office of Executive Director is Steve Hawkins. The interest group was founded in January 1995. Over the years they have grown a tremendous amount and now have helped in legalizing medical marijuana in 11 states in the US. There are other interest groups that strongly disagree with MPP and want to keep medical marijuana illegal but obviously the MPP has a stronger team on individuals that have better evidence and arguments. In fact, on June 25, 2019, Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker signed into law the Cannabis Regulation and Tax Act (CRTA),
