CHALLENGING TRADITIONAL FEMININITY 3 Cultural Artifacts My first piece of work is "Mona Lisa" painted by Leonardo da Vinci. This portrait was painted during the Italian Renaissance in Florence between 1503 and 1517. Mona Lisa is one of the most famous images in the world. The identity of the subject, though thought to be Lisa Gherardini, wife of Francesco del Gioconda, as well as what she may be thinking, are still a mystery today.
