Maya Sankoh Psychology 101 Dr Koontz Reflection on Learning: Chapter 10 Emotion & Motivation The Power of Motivation (video # 17) was the first video on the list of video tutorials for this chapter and the most interesting concept was how one of the effects of semistarvation of Ancel Keys Minnesota Hunger experiment was how the subjects began to isolate themselves even though the sense of belonging is fundamental to human nature. The need to belong is one out of three of the top big three general motivators. This also came up previously in chapter nine specifically during puberty. The second video, Eating and Body Dysmorphic ( video # 33) was very insightful with the thorough explanation of the types of eating disorders, how they are similar and different from one another. The most interesting concept was how destructive anorexia is and the fact that it is the most fatal of any other psychiatric disorder. I didn’t know it can and has prolonged to such tragedy. One was also caught off guard at the rate at which children begin to obsess over their appearance and weight gain when the video was describing the statistics of children from first grade and up to adolescence. The next video Let’s Talk About Sex ( video # 27), went over a lot of the same material in the text about the beginning of research in the field of sexuality and information that is discussed in a health course regarding sex and the hormones that come along.
