Behaviorists and Reinforcement The definition of reinforcement is that it is a consequence that strengthens the future behavior of humans or other animals especially when they are preceded by an antecedent stimulus (Skinner, 2014). It other terms, it is a response for an antecedent stimuli which can also be called a reinforcer. As Ormrod said, this can be either negative or positive and intrinsic or extrinsic stimuli. For one to strengthen positive or required behaviors with reinforcement, they all need to allow reinforcement to come in after the positive behavior has been completed by the organization. A classroom behavior that is positive and that a teacher would want to have in the classroom is rewarding those who perform well after exams for those in the classroom. This is a reinforcement since it makes the students work hard and, as such, increase the number of students who are passing their exams in the class room. This makes it act as a positive reinforcement for the students as they will pass.

As a current student on this bumpy collegiate pathway, I stumbled upon Course Hero, where I can find study resources for nearly all my courses, get online help from tutors 24/7, and even share my old projects, papers, and lecture notes with other students.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
