Vinh Luu EWRT 1A - Prof. Roberts 06/18/2018 Troubled Youth From the Inside Cement is created when cement powder is mixed with water until it becomes a clay-like mixture and get spread. At first when that cement surface is still wet it is very soft that anything impacts on it leaves an impression, if no one fixes the mark it will be still on the surface until dry out, leaving a permanent trace. A child’s mind is as same as a flat wet-cement surface - easily be impacted but also easily be fixed. When a child can’t stand on his own feet yet, family is his only spiritual haven. Therefore, the only thing that can have influences upon a child easily - both good and bad ones - is his family as well. Many children don’t have enough love and care from their family such as family trauma, divorce, orphanage, child abuse, etc… which causes great damage to their vulnerable mind and soul, like a cement surface full of holes and traces. Besides, the outside society is full of maladies and enticements that an innocent child by himself cannot discriminate between what is right and wrong and can fall into the depths of sins and crimes becoming juvenile incarcerated. Therefore, the only things that can save their lives and souls are love from their family, social respect and their own sense of purpose in life. It is our duty not to criticize them down for their fallenness but to pull them up with those ropes. In general, lack of familial love is the main reason for many sad stories. In the novel True Notebooks: A Writer's Year at Juvenile Hall by Mark Salzman, Jimmy Wu is one youngster in the juvenile hall who has a heartbreaking family trauma that leads him to depression and crime.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
