THEORETICAL FRAMEWORK 2 Theoretical Framework Proposal Piaget and Bronfenbrenner are leaders in developmental child psychology. Jean Piaget was ahead of his time when he developed his theory of cognitive development. He used his own three infant children to conduct his observations on and discovered that infants, children, and adolescents do not think the same way that adults do; the way in which children think has very important qualitative measures to it whereas adult’s cognition is more geared towards quantity of information ( Contributors to Understanding , 2019). Bronfenbrenner also has a theory of development that led to his founding of the Head Start program in the United States. His theory focuses more on the systems in which a child develops; starting with biological processes and moving outwards toward the community ( Contributors to Understanding , 2019). Nonetheless, Piaget and Bronfenbrenner have contributed greatly to the field of Child Psychology and ideas will be emulated in our center’s theoretical framework. Piaget's Contributions Piaget has many contributions, but not all can be discussed for the purposes of our brief theoretical framework. Piaget’s work can be brought down to two main points of discussion: the first one is that human intelligence flows in stages relative to age and the second being that human knowledge is creativity at its best ( Piaget’s Developmental , 2019). These main points cannot be rushed or forced; they are natural and therefore follow a natural continuum. Knowledge is not a carbon copy of what an adult is teaching them, knowledge reflects a child’s mental activity as well as their environment.

THEORETICAL FRAMEWORK 3 Memory Since human intelligence flows in stages relative to age and cannot be rushed, it also makes sense that memory and imagery are not just file holders for facts. Memory and imagery

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
