Newspapers and other print journalism are funded by selling ad space to advertisers and then selling the paper copies through subscribers or roadside vendors. Twenty- nine percent of adults still pay for a newspaper subscription of some kind. (API, 2017) Social media journalists write their articles then on whatever platforms they are published on, they are riddled with advertisements. Smaller online companies still offer subscriptions without the ads. This is slowly becoming phased out, however. On television the news is financed through the broadcaster who receives money from ads and telecommunication companies. Sinclair Broadcast Group is a nationwide broadcast company that imposes guidelines for news companies to promote certain segments in order to make money off the advertising. Everywhere you turn, there is advertising. To summarize, no, journalism is not free. Additionally,
