Buffalo Soldier National Museum Essay I went to Buffalo Soldiers National Museum as a trip with my History 1301 classmates on Thursday, April the 4th. Entering the museum, the first thing we did was watch a little history background about the Buffalo Soldiers. The museum tour had information about them, the tools they used, and also important writings and pictures of them Something that stood up to me during the visit to the museum was the story about Cathay Williams. The two most important things I learned during the visit to the museum was how they contributed to American history and how they got their name. The Buffalo soldiers were brave African Americans, who were freemen, Civil War Soldiers, African citizens, or people who used to be slaves. The Buffalo soldiers had both cavalry and infantry soldiers, who protect the western frontier. The Buffalo Soldiers National Museum is the only museum in the U.S. dedicated primarily to preserving the legacy and honor of the African-American soldier. It houses the largest repository of African-American military history in the world.
