Persuasive Speech Outline Proposition : Persuave people to stop drinking soda and drink water instead. I. Introduction : Attention Catcher: 57 gallons of soda are consumed by the average person per year. And soda is the next top drink next to the water. What also of people may already know is that soda is bad for your health. But they still drink it. Relevant sentence: Everyone here has had a soda right? We all have our favorite one, and even though we know that it’s not healthy we drink it anyways. Thesis: Over the years soda has become a staple in our lives, and is unfortunately extremely toxic to our bodies. This is why we need to make the effort to limit the amount we drink and make ourselves aware of the risks we expose to our health when choosing to drink soda. Moreover, giving up soda and switching to water would make a huge impact on your health. Therefore, people should give up soda and drink more water. Transition: So, let’s begin by discussing deeper about the reason why you should give up soda and drink more water by looking at the negative effects of soda. II. Body : 1. The out of the pocket cost of drinking pop adds up. The average American drinks 216 liters (that's 7304 ounces, or about 365 20-ounce bottles) a year. If you purchased your soda only at a vending machine, that's about $550/ year. If, instead, you put this into a retirement account for 30 years at a 7%
