Tarra Scott 1. London Economic Conference: leaders hope to sort out a remedy for the depression that is in almost every country. Exchange-rate stabilization was essential, and it had been gone since 1933. When the leaders wanted to stabilize everyone's economy by fixing the values of money not based on the American dollar, FDR backed out and didn’t agree. When he backed out, his every- man-for-himself policy was strengthened, and the world’s economy got worse. Nationalism also became more extreme, and the dictator enjoyed the unstable peace. 2. Good Neighbor Policy: American policy towards Latin America, by FDR. It made the US seem like less of a world power, and more of a regional, hemispherical power. Since they had abandoned the Philippines (Tydings-McDuffie Act 1934), and given them freedom, they worried the Axis less. At the seven-pan american conference, they announced their dedication to nonintervention. They became friendly instead of imposing, and used diplomacy not arms. 3. Reciprocal Trade Agreements: designed to increase American export trade, and activate low- tariff policies. Amended the Hawley-Smoot tariff by getting rid of it objectionable aspects. FDR would lower rates by as much as 50%, and in turn, other countries would too. Made trading depend less on the Senate’s long decisions. By 1939, 21 other countries joined the pact, and the world was on its way to getting rid of high tariff policies.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
