Michael Torres Mr. Melgarejo AP World History June 6, 2018 The Global Water Crisis-Make the prices appropriate for the lower classes There are many problems with both Africa and India’s water. One of the biggest issues is with health in Africa and India’s contaminated water is the tiny worms and bacteria that live within the water. These things can be very harmful to humans and lead to awful diseases such as Guinea Worm Disease. A disease that can be found when drinking water contaminated with Dracunculus larvae. The worms and bacteria cannot be seen, therefore they can’t be avoided. Another issue with dirty is poverty, without any money being spent on purifying the water there would be a increase in amount of deaths combined in both India and Africa because a lot of citizens will start to catch and spread a certain disease not knowing where it came from. In Africa, there’s roughly 1 billion people who lives in africa but only 780 million people live without clean drinking water. With that contaminated water roughly four thousand children die every year due to illness caused by unsafe drinking water. For an example in Cape Town, South Africa is a modern city that has been running out of water. Which has became a serious issue because the citizens who lives in Cape Town is now limited to 13 gallons of water per day and per person. In Cape Town, the police states that “ the biggest offenders are often in the most affluent areas. The water restrictions are so severe, they have spawned a growing market in illegal water supplies”(“Water”). The offenders are using the the cities water supply and taking the water so they could purify it and sell it as if it’s a business. All of the fresh bodies of water in
