15 KEBERTERIMAAN MASYARAKAT TERHADAP INOVASI TEKNOLOGI BAMBU LAMINASI SEBAGAI ALTERNATIF PENGGANTI KAYU KONSTRUKSI Societal Acceptance towards the Innovation of Laminated Bamboo Technology as an Alternative to Timber Ratih Putri R Balai Litbang Sosial Ekonomi Lingkungan Bidang Permukiman Pusat Litbang Sosial Ekonomi Lingkungan, Balitbang Kementerian Pekerjaan Umum Jl. Adisucipto no. 165 Yogyakarta, 55281 Email: [email protected] Tanggal diterima: 01 Desember 2011 ; Tanggal disetujui 13 Februari 2012 ABSTRACT Five of the largest islands that have experienced the most severe deforestation in recent times were Sulawesi, Sumatera, and Borneo with more than 20% loss of forest area. The need of timber as construction material is one of the factors that threaten the existence of forestland in those islands. Thus, an alternative to timber becomes a vital necessity. The PTPT Office, Puskim Denpasar, Bali has developed the laminated bamboo technology that can be utilized as structural beams for construction. Bali, NTB, and NTT have highly potential forestry; this also applies in respect to bamboo forests. This research aims to measure the society’s acceptance rate towards the usage of laminated bamboo as a replacement for timber. The research method applied is survey using questionnaires and in-depth discussions with respondents. Data is analysed using descriptive statistics, qualitative, and quantitative. Looking at the environmental aspect, this research shows that all three regions accept laminated bamboo as a substitute of construction timber. The acceptance of Bali towards the technology’s aesthetics and architectural design achieves a 2.10 while NTB and NTT rates the bamboo’s physical rigidity as 2.40 and 1.90 respectively.
