Acting In the 19 th century as the dominate art form moved from Romanticism to Realism – in theatre that was when Realism and Naturalism was born. Constantine S. Stanislavski was born in 1863, his real name was Konstantin Sergeyevich Alekseyev, at the age of 25 he would take on the last name of Stanislavski and that would become his professional name. Fun Fact: he was born into a family that loved theatre. In 1882, Constantin Stanislavski saw Tommaso Salvini perfomed on stage.
