Jeff Holman Professor Winston Economics 201 21 September 2018 Benefits of Publicly Funded Daycare Many people work out of necessity in today’s society. With the changing economic climate, many families find it difficult to pay bills with just one income. In modern society, it is not uncommon for both parents to work and pay bills. This is a problem if a household wants to have children and raise a family because about seventy percent of mothers are in the workforce today (The Importance of Childcare for Working Parents), and childcare is very costly. This results in a large amount of financial strain on many families’ incomes, and could potentially be alleviated through government subsidies. A major benefit to subsidized child care is the ability for parents to continue their education. Parents can spend less time working to pay for child care and focus on attaining skills for higher paying jobs. This is especially important for low income families. A more skilled workforce will also yield greater economic benefits for society. Similarly, parents can focus on
