ATP & ADP ATP is the energy currency of the cell Energy is released when the third phosphate is hydrolysed OR the third phosphate can be transferred to other molecules (they become less stable and more reactive)

ATP How is ATP generated? We’ve seen one way… capturing light energy in the light reactions of photosynthesis The other is oxidative processes…breaking down organic molecules (sugars, fatty acids, etc.) to release chemical exergy that is stored as ATP

Electron Carriers In photosynthesis, NADPH was used to carry high-energy electrons from the light reactions into the Calvin cycle In cellular respiration, NADH and FADH 2 are used to shuttle electrons more NADH than FADH 2 NAD + + H + + 2e- NADH FAD + 2H + + 2e- FADH 2

Cellular Respiration We know the overall reaction for cellular respiration: C 6 H 12 O 6 + O 2 6 CO 2 + 6 H 2 O + energy Just as with photosynthesis, this actually occurs over many steps in different locations in the cell

As a current student on this bumpy collegiate pathway, I stumbled upon Course Hero, where I can find study resources for nearly all my courses, get online help from tutors 24/7, and even share my old projects, papers, and lecture notes with other students.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
