IntroductionAccording to David Livermore, Cultural intelligence “is the capability to functioneffectively across national, ethnic, and organizational cultures. It can be learned by most anyone.Cultural intelligence offers leaders an overall repertoire and perspective that can be applied tomyriad cultural situations.”1The CQ Assessment provided me a profile rating of each CQcapability which highlights of areas of strength and opportunities for improvement incommunicating among other cultures. In this research paper, there will be an analysis of my CQprofile and provide a plan of action to develop areas needing improvement. In my career pathand role within the church, it is important to improve in my cultural intelligence to have a moreprofound impact on other people in different cultures. In May, 2019, I took the CQ test which required me to answer a series questions. My CQdrive score was the highest out of all of the CQ capabilities. The profile outcome indicated thatindividuals with high CQ Drive are motivated to learn and adapt to new and diverse culturalsettings or situations.According to Livermore, “ CQ Drive includes three sub dimensions thatcan be assessed and developed: intrinsic interest, the degree to which you derive enjoyment fromculturally diverse situations; extrinsic interest, the tangible benefits you gain from culturallydiverse experiences; and self-efficacy, the confidence that you will be effective in a cross-culturalencounter.”2My overall score fell within the moderate range in the middle of fifty percent of theworldwide norm.My CQ Knowledge was also within the moderate range.CQ Knowledge is the degree towhich you understand how culture influences how people think and behave and your level of1 David Livermore.Leading with Cultural Intelligence: American Management Association.
